Surviving Shift Work ? When you?re Rostered to Work on Christmas Day!

Shift work can be challenging at the best of times, but when Christmas day is just around the corner and the mad frenzy of buying last minute gifts, menu planning and grocery shopping comes to a final close – you might be forgiven for feeling a tad bit frazzled!

But as a shift worker, you might actually be of the ‘lucky’ ones rostered to work on Christmas day.

Now as shift work veteran, I have had Christmas day off twice in 15 years. Yep – that’s right twice.

But is it really the end of the world? Are we really missing out on all of the fun and festivities of Christmas day?

Of course not. The day is what you make of it. .

Just bring your Christmas spirit in to work (along with some of those naughty Christmas treats to share) – and you can have just as much fun joking around with your work mates. After all, we’re all in the same boat so there is no point winging and complaining about it.

You see sometimes being a shift worker is a really good thing.

Why?

Because you can basically ‘rock up’ at a Christmas venue after you’ve finished work, sit down and just eat! You don’t have to spend all morning cooking and preparing everything because you’ve spent the morning slaving away at work.
